The Pediatric Residency Program features a robust simulation experience for all residents. During each block of the academic year, two in situ simulations are held on the inpatient wards using high-fidelity mannequins. Residents, nurses, respiratory therapists and other staff members actively participate in these biweekly simulations. In addition to in situ simulations, residents participate in quarterly simulations and task training at the Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (CELS) at the Harrell Medical Education Building. Lastly, the simulation curriculum culminates in “Mega” simulations towards the end of the academic year. These final simulations require trainees to synthesize their knowledge and experience from prior simulations and patient care to manage complex clinical scenarios.
